Grouped balance alerts let you monitor remaining credits and commits across specific subsets of your balance. Rather than alerting on a single total remaining balance for a contract, you can configure alerts to evaluate within a group — such as per workspace, per product, per region, or any other grouping identifier attached to your credits and commits via custom fields.

Use cases

  • Notify when any team is below 20% of its monthly credits.
  • Alert when any product-specific balance reaches $0.

How it works

Grouped balance alerts extend the existing Low Commit and Credit Balance Reached alert with a new filter option. Today, you can filter a balance alert by a single custom field key-value pair — for example, team_name: abc — to alert when that specific team’s credit balance reaches a threshold. With grouped balance alerts, you set a filter on just the custom field key (e.g., team_name) and Metronome automatically evaluates balances for every unique value of that key. This means a single alert can fire for any team whose balance hits the threshold, without needing to create a separate alert per team.

Prerequisites

Before setting up a grouped balance alert, make sure your credits and commits have the relevant custom field key-value pairs assigned. Only credits and commits with a matching key will be included in the grouped balance evaluation. For more on setting custom fields, see Custom fields.
