How billing works
Metronome supports the most common and the most complex billing methods. The two standard Metronome supports the two most common billing methodologies:
-
Usage-based billing, also called metered billing, charges customers based upon actual consumption of your services. For example, if you offer cloud services you may charge customers based upon disk usage and network data over a given period.
This billing model charges customers a potentially variable amount, in arrears (at the end of the billing period).
-
Seat-based billing charges customers a set amount per seat (or license). For example, if you offer software services, you may charge customers based upon the number of users with access to your software for a given period.
This billing model charges customers a fixed amount, in advance (at the beginning of the billing period).
You can also combine these billing approaches in a composite variant.
